
Riyadh in Arabic pronounced Al-Riyad, is the capital of Saudi Arabia and it is the highest populated city in the country, situated on a plateau in the center of the Arabian Peninsula.
The city is divided into 15 municipal districts, managed by the Municipality of Riyadh headed by the mayor of Riyadh, and the Royal Commission for Riyadh which is chaired by the governor of the Province, Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud. The current mayor is Tariq bin Abdul Aziz Al-Faris. Riyadh has been designated a global city.
Riyadh has a hot desert climate. The warmest month is August (the average temperature is 44°C) and the coldest month is January (the average temperature is 20°C)
Riyadh is one of the busiest and wealthiest cities in the Middle East. It is a very traditional city, However it’s mixed with new fascinating architectural towers and modern malls, you can find so many things to do that are a must-try for everyone.
For many years the majority of travellers have been business travellers. However, since Saudi Arabia has opened their doors to International tourist, the city become more attractive. Every day a lot of tourists come to visit this city.
Traditional clothes in Saudi are Throbe (or thawb) for men and Abaya for women. During hot weather Saudi men wear white thrones and wool thrones in dark colours during cold weather. Saudi women love fashion, however, in public they should cover their everyday wear a thick, opaque and loose fitting clock that doesn’t show off her body.

A lot of female travellers ask us if they have to wear an abaya too. No, the female travellers won’t have to wear an abaya as the Saudi Arabia has dropped its strict dress code. However, both men and women should dress modestly, avoiding tight fitting and revealing clothes in public.
Saudi Arabia is a very conservative, Islamic country. The alcohol is completely banned in Saudi Arabia. This includes brewing, consuming, importing or selling. Drinking in Saudi Arabia is punishable.
